Why Everyone Needs a Statement Skirt

In Case the answer ‘because we just do’ is not enough for you, then here are a few reasons.  A skirt is the most feminine piece of clothing that defines a women’s silhouette, and honestly can look good on everyone.  You can either wear it extremely high and have it flare out, or if you have pencil hips, then can take advantage of the pencil skirt.  As everyone needs some great basics like an accordian maxi, plain lounging maxi or a simple pencil skirt, a statement skirt spices up your wardrobe and can be a go to item.  My advice is to get a fun pattern or texture that you absolutely love and that will go with a couple tops you already have.  The stripe skirt pattern is a great go to especially for summer and my second favorite is a classic gingham.  I am also loving the shimmery accordian maxi and quite honestly I think you need all three.

Step up this cotton poplin and fluid jersey blend skirt from every fashion influencer’s favorite cool brand Opening Ceremony.  It has chic asymmetric layers giving it great movement.  Come Autumn, I’m planning on teaming my stripe skirt with this Acne Studios grey sweatshirt and a pair of sneakers.  Wear it now with a cami top and midi heels for a more dressed look.  Or go for an everyday look and team it with a t-shirt and a pair of flats.

T-shirts that say something are hot property right now.  A good one will have them staring at your chest, squinting trying to read.

Don’t fret if the popular designer T’s like Gucci are out of your budget.  There are some good eye catching alternatives out there.

Does It Have To Mean Anything?

The first thing I do when I see a statement T is make sure I understand what the slogan means!  No one wants to be caught with some dodgy phrase smeared across their chest.  Aside from that there are no rules, wear whatever you want.  It could be a logo of your favorite designer, I’m wearing one by Opening Ceremony , your dad’s favorite band (who doesn’t love a vintage rock T), a political statement (a la Maria Grazia Chiuri’s tees at Dior) or the mantra you live by.
